Deserts and Gardens is a meditation on the full spectrum of life—on the seasons when everything is blooming and those when we feel a little lost. Both, in their own way, are beautiful. Created in San Juan during a wave of homesickness for the artist’s native California, this large-scale piece is a love letter to the Golden State, painted in a palette inspired by its soft desert tones. At the same time, it’s a gentle reminder to find peace wherever life places you—in this case, the garden that is Puerto Rico.
